Teachers

For My Teachers:

Not many should presume to be teachers, for they will be judged more strictly. Maybe we should give them a pass from the divine judgement. Lord knows, we judge them harshly enough.

The man who mediates.

The distance from the past to the future – we are best placed to know our fathers and to hand on their wisdom to our children. Faithful and Reliable men.

You might not have written as many books as James K. A. Smith, but you’re our teacher, you’re the one God has provided to know us and know our context and know the tradition and speak it to us. No one could do it better because no one else can be you.

We could do a lot to be better learners, but we are your students, there’s no point wishing you had someone elses.
